Its been quite a while since I did any work on the blog, largely due to taking time to complete the final oil paintings that
I started to do over the winter period in the lounge of my cottage in Mid Wales.
Because the weather was too cold to sit in Fiat Doblo , it seemed a sensible solution to continue my studies in the
warmeth of the room.
Also I have been busy with a potential house move to Carmarthenshire, and after a two and half year search
I have finally located an area which which will meet my needs long term in terms of size , proximity to
Carmarthen but not in it, access to a good road connection , and all the basic amenities without necessarily
having to get in the car always. So more of that later when the deal is done, but it has been a very interesting
period offset against the painting time, to discover new locations, historical information, and a totally different
environment to the one I am currently living in ..
I am only going to commit now to complete an oil study on paper which I began last year in a lovely
location on the coast near Llanon, which overlooks the sea and it will enable me to do more experimenting with
a range of new mediums that I have bought recently. If there is a delay in the house move, some friends
who own a fishing lake complex in a neighbouring hamlet have kindly offered to allow me to park the car
in different places and paint there, and as the weather is improving that could be an option I take , but its
a timescale thing now and all things work for good..

This painting was very much around the issues of conveying the beautiful movement of the grass, with the curves
of the back hill and the colouring of the three willow trees on the far left, its not a particularly good photograph
I have to say but in terms of the learning about underlying colour formations it was very valuable, also the
record of the number of changes that it went through , helped me see the importance of the underlying compositional
choices.
